SMILE - Smartphone App for Anxiety Treatment
Welcome to the research project on SMILE (Smartphone App for Anxiety Treatment), a groundbreaking mobile-sensing and treatment smartphone app designed to improve the mental health of individuals suffering from anxiety disorders. SMILE incorporates evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles to offer personalized treatment functions for users. CBT is widely recognized as the primary treatment approach for youth with mental health disorders (Creswell et al., 2014).
Smartphone interventions hold tremendous promise due to their ability to provide in-the-moment treatment exercises and symptom monitoring, immediately before or after pivotal events in an individual's life. To ensure that SMILE is viewed as personal and straightforward, we focus on presenting treatment features that are relevant to each user. We accomplish this by leveraging mobile-sensing technology, which allows us to gain insights into areas where patients may face symptom-related challenges, such as social interactions, physical activity, and sleep (Torous et al., 2016). This data empowers us to create personalized behavioral profiles for each user, tailoring treatment options to their specific needs.
Our research project seeks to revolutionize anxiety treatment by combining cutting-edge technology with evidence-based therapeutic approaches. By participating in this study, you have the opportunity to be part of a transformative effort to enhance the mental health of anxious youth. Together, we aim to reduce the burden of anxiety disorders and improve the lives of countless individuals.
